An evening to cherish

The 21st century has made our life so busy that we have to plan and schedule time for ourselves to have a time away to relax with the people of same thoughts and minds. Steve Jobs rightly said "Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.

Random thoughts!

I had been observing and reflecting on some comments on social media. Many a times I go through the writings and comments by the people I know. Most of the time I see lots of grievance, dissatisfaction and criticism.

Meme Kota gets lodging for the night

This incident was shared by a distant aunt.
My aunt had gone to Tashigang with a group of people and they were returning home. Since it was a long journey (in the mid 80s when the motor vehicle were not readily available) on foot they had decided to rest for the night in a cave not far from the main path. They had lighted a makeshift oven and cooked their evening meal and were taking rest before their dinner when they saw a man coming their way. The man (Meme Kota) asked for shelter for the night in their cave and they agreed to let him stay with them in the cave.

Meme Kota and his horse

It was during the time when the motor vehicle (in Bhutan) was scarce and people used mule n horse for transportation. Meme Kota had a horse called “Thremo”. He used to go from place to place taking the horse to transport loads. Once he had gone to Tashigang Dzong to deliver the load and unfortunately for him, his horse littered the place. The policeman on duty saw it and asked Meme to clean the litter. Meme was quite ashamed and was not willing to clean the waste and thought for some time. He slowly walked to his horse and said in a very soothing tone as if he was talking to a child.

Nothing lasts forever

This materialistic world
Urge every  individual
To rush; to crave
for wealth; for  power.
To sweat and toil
To accumulate
Assuming we live a thousand years

Let's give our best Teachers

When need is heeded everything prospers. The need for transformative learning system had been called for by citizens of all walks of life in our country and indeed the awakening to the need had been very timely. The involvement of all the teachers throughout the country in this transformative pedagogy is a history in itself. I am the part of history in making. Never before in my more than two decades of the teaching career have I seen such huge training program.

Being in Delhi

When the flight landed in the Indra Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, I was prepare for another adventurous journey. Being away from Home and family is always a worst part in life but I was ready to break away from my comfort zone. The blizzard noise of Delhi traffic was the first thing that hit me. I could not hear what the person who had come to pick me up at the airport was saying. The trip from airport to the my destination was another experience. The drivers drove the vehicles in their own whims. I shared with my co-passenger that I would never dare to drive in the streets of Delhi.

A new place, a new start

After lots of appeal, I got my transfer and I could finally join my other half of my family. It is a great relief that I am finally out of the place that I had started hating. When I start disliking something, nothing can make me change my mind and I am really glad that I am out of that place.

Nothing last forever

The sun shines bright
But I only feel the shadows
People around me laugh
But it fails to touch my heart
The children smile around
But  fails to warm me.

Random thoughts

Have you ever felt like the whole world is conspiring against you? Well I am going through that kind of phase in life: The place that I have lived for more than four years seems like a strange place. The work that I have loved since the time I started working seems less motivating and people I have worked with seems like Strangers.  The only light is my little girl who welcomes me home with her smile and laughter every time I return from my mundane routine.

Assumed the mighty task
 Steering a raw nation
From isolation
To internationalization.

Reflecting on the day’s event
I try to get the much needed rest
Yet I cannot shut my heavy eyelids

The Firing Drill

I got myself registered for the one day refresher’s course (firing drill) at Deothang after consulting with my husband since I didn’t have any other important work at that time. I was apprehensive because I knew that most of the Desuups were busy with “Wang Duty” in Phuentsholing and I hardly knew the Desuups listed for the refresher’s course. To my dismay I could see only three female Desuups listed when the final list was uploaded in the Desuung group page in facebook. Nevertheless I kept my hope high because I knew I was going to make new friends and gain some more practice in firing drill.

My Nephew's first trip to Yangtse

The tiring journey through the crowded Assam road dimmed as I neared my native place. The greeting into the valley by the sound of black necked cranes made the scene all more mesmerizing. My five year old nephew was travelling with me to see his grandparents for the first time and was full of questions about the new environment and the cranes. He was asking about the Chorten Kora that he had seen in Noezhen Express in BBS and wanted to know how big it was. He kept asking whether Chorten kora was as big as some chorten (stupa) that we passed through on the way. When I said it was bigger than that, he spread his arms and asked whether it was as big. I told him that he would see it in few minutes as we were nearing the place, he kept stretching his neck to see further in front of the car.

Dear Mom

You were always there
Teaching me to sit straight,
Crawl and take my first step
Holding my hands when I stumbled,
Delighting on my utterance of the first word,
Spending sleepless night when I was running a slight fever.
